Event narrative

The status of the drought remained unchanged through the month of February. The extreme (D3) drought continued over the northern portion of the zone with severe (D2) conditions elsewhere except for the far southeast corner where the moderate (D1) drought continued through the end of the month.

Wider weather episode

Even with a few systems moving through western Colorado in February, below normal precipitation was recorded in most areas. As a result, the drought remained largely unchanged with some worsening observed in portions of northwest and southwest Colorado.
