At the Stateline US-2 DOT site, sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph were common from the early evening hours to the early nighttime hours.

Wider weather episode

A strong low pressure system from the Canadian Rockies pulled suddenly colder air into all of northeast Montana and easily brought with it, stronger winds from aloft down to the surface.
