An area of cold high pressure settled across the region in the wake of a long duration snow event earlier in the week. Low temperatures dropped into the 20s and 30s below zero in parts of northeastern Minnesota with wind chills falling into the 40s and 50s below zero. The coldest wind chill recorded was -52F near Birchdale.
