Event narrative

Thunderstorm winds downed a few trees around Shoals.

Wider weather episode

A deep trough over the Midwest and a moist, buoyant warm sector over the region led to a line of strong storms over southern central Indiana by the early evening. As a squall line organized and enveloped downstream cells, the resulting bowing segments led to damaging winds and broad rotation in a bookend vortex radar signature. Straight line wind damage occurred along the path of the bowing segment, with significant damage to boat docks on Lake Monroe in Monroe County, as well as the Country Squire Lakes trailer park in Jennings County. The region of broad rotation eventually lead to a brief tornado in south-central Decatur County.
