There were several lines of strong to occasionally severe thunderstorms that moved northward across southern Minnesota, and into portions of central Minnesota, and west central Wisconsin. The largest hail stones occurred in far southern Minnesota where deep layer shear and ample instability existed. Some of the largest hailstones occurred near Mankato, and south of Mankato toward the Iowa border, where there were a few reports of measured golf ball and half dollar size hail. There were also numerous reports of smaller hail stones across southern Minnesota.
