A total of 4 inches of snow was reported at Yates Center.

Wider weather episode

An upper level storm system played havoc on the weather across south central and southeast Kansas. The temperatures from the surface into the atmosphere were rather persnickety and hovered around the freezing mark making a solid forecast difficult as it led to a sharp delineation between mixed phased precipitation and all snow.
