Wider weather episode

During the morning of Monday, May 9th, a small complex of thunderstorms that developed across eastern South Dakota moved eastward and affected a large area of west-central, central and east-central Minnesota before moving into west-central Wisconsin late Monday morning. Although scattered thunderstorms developed south and north of this main supercell storm, this storm in particular was the main producing of large hail, up to baseball size, that fell from shortly after sunrise in far west-central Minnesota, to east-central Minnesota, north of the Twin Cities, by 10 AM. This storm continued to pulse up and down from tops as high as 60,000 feet. Damage was widespread where the large hailstone fell.
