Wider weather episode
After record highs in the middle to upper 90s and very strong southerly, non-thunderstorm winds, a strong cold front pushed into western Nebraska during the late evening hours. A squall line developed along an approaching cold front. Within the squall line, strong straight line winds and hail up to the size of ping pong balls were reported. In advance of the front, gusty southerly winds produced areas of blowing dust which reduced visibilities.
