Gust measured by a Weatherflow gauge near Lewes. Numerous wind gusts of 55 to 65 mph were reported along the Sussex County coast.

Wider weather episode

A slow moving, late season coastal storm affected the eastern mid-Atlantic from about May 7-9. The storm brought widespread rainfall, unseasonably cold temperatures, and strong winds especially near the coast. Many coastal areas experienced wind gusts over 60 mph.
