The spotter near Swanson measured 0.10 inches of ice accumulation from freezing rain during the event.

Wider weather episode

A warm front lifting northward from a Central Plains low brought widespread freezing rain and some sleet to portions of west and central Upper Mi from late evening on the 29th into the morning of the 30th. The ice accumulation from the freezing rain caused treacherous travel conditions, closed schools and knocked out power at some locations.
