Event narrative

Hail up to golf ball size fell in Santa Teresa up toward La Union. Several houses around the intersection of McNutt and the Dominici Highway sustained destroyed roofs and numerous vehicles had significant hail damage including at the local NWS office.

Wider weather episode

An isolated thunderstorm developed over the higher terrain of northern Mexico and moved northeast into far southern New Mexico. Moisture was modest across the area on the back side of the dryline and sufficient shear was present to sustain the storm into the late evening hours. Hail up to the size of golf balls was reported as this storm moved through Santa Teresa.
