Event narrative

The Devil's Sinkhole Wildfire started on the afternoon of the 9th approximately six miles north of Rocksprings off Hwy 377 in Edwards County. The fire burned until the 10th. There was a Red Flag Warning in effect on the 9th. It burned 758 acres.

Wider weather episode

Dry air and unusually warm temperatures produced extremely low relative humidity for several days. These dry conditions combined with breezy winds to produce critical fire weather conditions.
