Wider weather episode

With a marginal severe risk, strong to severe storms developed in northeastern New Mexico and southeastern Colorado and pushed into southwest Kansas during the late afternoon spreading east northeast into the evening hours. An upper level trough deepened a low near this region providing the lift for these elevated storms. Modest low level moisture with dewpoints in the 50s with ample enough instability to produce some hail and damaging wind reports before weakening after sunset as the inversion set back up capping the environment that was eroded with daytime heating.
