2022-04-08 to 2022-04-10 · Madison, North Carolina
Wider weather episode
A moist northwest upslope flow in the wake of a departing cold front combined with falling snow levels resulted in development of snow showers across the North Carolina mountains during the afternoon of the 8th, continuing off and on through the 9th. Accumulating snowfall was primarily confined to elevations above about 3500 feet across the Tennessee border counties, although isolated amounts of an inch or two were reported in the valleys. Accumulations in the high elevations were generally in the 2-5 inch range, but some locations above 5000 feet, or at lower elevations right along the state line reported amounts of more than 10 inches.
