Event narrative

The Hampton County 911 Call Center reported trees down on Charleston Highway.

Wider weather episode

An upper trough digging across the Northeast United States with ample shortwave energy helped push a cold front into portions of southeast South Carolina during evening hours, igniting thunderstorms that eventually merged into a mesoscale convective system capable of producing widespread wind damage across an environment displaying moderate levels of mixed layer convective available potential energy and large downdraft convective available potential energy.
