Trees of 4, 5 and 8 inches in diameter were blown down over Highway 73 south of Kettle River.
Wider weather episode
An area of low pressure moved across the Northland during the afternoon of the 18th. Storms developed ahead of an associated cold front and turned into a line of storms that worked across much of northeastern Minnesota and into northwest Wisconsin. The storms were mainly wind producers with numerous reports of trees down and minor structure damage as the moved through. Some hail was reported as well, but was mainly around an inch or less. An embedded EF-0 tornado was confirmed just north of the Duluth area and produced mainly tree damage.
