Event narrative

Early Saturday morning a squall line moved through Southeast Mississippi. The squall line split between 0630 and 0700 over Perry and Greene Counties. The northern part of the line moved into Choctaw and Washington Counties in Alabama and the southern part of the line moved into Mobile County. Widespread straight line wind damage was observed throughout the area. Most of the damage was from trees and power lines being blown down. In some instances the trees fell onto some homes causing damage. Following are some of the damage reports received: Trees and power lines were blown down along State Highway 42 near Richton (Perry County). Several large trees and power lines were blown down in the southeast part of Wayne County, just west of U S Highway 45, near Pine Bluff (just northeast of State Line). A tin roof on a barn was also blown off. Trees and power lines were blown down around Sand Hill (Greene County). Trees and power lines were blown down along State Highway 26 around Wiggins and Rosette (Stone County). Trees and power lines were blown down between Oak Grove and Thompson Hill (Perry County). Trees and power lines were blown down in Leaksville (Greene County). Trees and power lines were blown down in Lucedale (George County). The squall line moved out of Southeast Mississippi and into Southwest Alabama around 0730 CST.
