Event narrative

Strong thunderstorms hit extreme southern Nevada as Monsoonal moisture began to effect the area. Rain from a storm washed away part of a road embankment and damaged a few mobile homes in Boulder City. Winds from the storm uprooted trees and damaged a carport. A 58 mph gust was recorded at Nellis air force base where several tree limbs were downed. Automated rain gages recorded almost one-half inch of rain in 15 minutes from this storm. Doppler radar estimated that from 1.10 to 2 inches of rain fell on the city of Jean during these storms.
