Event narrative

Strong thunderstorms continued to pound Nevada for a second day, especially extreme southern Nevada. A severe thunderstorm packing strong winds, torrential downpours and large hail hit southwest Las Vegas. Winds from this storm downed several powerlines, destroyed two trailer homes, blew out numerous car windows and tore tiles off roofs. Nearby roads flooded quickly as rain fell at a rate of up to nine inches an hour for a short period. Flood waters swept a man caught underneath a bridge to his death. Across east central Nevada the Diamond Valley reported 0.88 inches of rain in a 20 minute period from a thunderstorm that caused significant street flooding. Other strong storms hit Churchill County, where one to two inches of rain fell 10 miles southeast of Fallon on Highway 50. Minor street flooding was reported. NEW HAMPSHIRE
