Event narrative

James River in East Central/Southeast Flooding along the James River continued from the end of April through all of May. An all time record stage was recorded at Huron on the 19th, and the river further south reached levels not far below all time record stages which were reached in April. Continued flooding of homes, other buildings, parks, and roads occurred. Agricultural losses due to delayed or impossible planting were expected to be very large.
