Alliance Airport ASOS station (KAIA) measured an afternoon high temperature of 105 degrees Fahrenheit with a heat index exceeding 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

Wider weather episode

An anomalous ridge built over the Front Range area resulted in record heat approaching all-time values. High temperatures across the Nebraska Panhandle were in the triple digits after morning lows only dropped into the 70s. Chadron came within one degree Fahrenheit of the all-time high temperature.
