A severe thunderstorm produced quarter-sized hail in Marion.

Wider weather episode

An approaching cold front was aided by rather strong mid-level flow (45-55+ kts) and moderately strong MLCAPE (1000-2000 J/kg) over central Pennsylvania during the afternoon of July 12, 2022. Scattered showers and storms developed by early afternoon, and produced reports of wind damage and quarter-sized hail. Storms had exited the Lower Susquehanna Valley by early evening.
