Event narrative

The drought event across the USVI is a concern to agricultural interests, as hot and dry days increase water demands, while stressing pastures, crops and native vegetation. Additionally, the groundwater reserves kept decreasing. Some agricultural interests are buying up to 3000 gallons of water daily to keep their products relatively healthy. Ranchers are also buying other supplements for the livestock. The hey to feet of the horses is scarce. A fire ban is now in effect for all the territory.

The rainfall deficit across the USVI worsened, with Severe Drought conditions for St. Thomas, and Extreme Drought conditions for Saint John and Saint Croix.
