Severe thunderstorms initiated near a surface low and weak frontal zone in northeast Montana. The storms then moved into western North Dakota, spreading south along the front, while the whole complex move towards the southeast. Strong wind gusts were the main threats with these storms, with the strongest reported wind gust of 82 mph occurring in Slope County. One-inch diameter hail occurred in Mountrail and McLean counties.
