Mesonet site on Peconic Road in Shinnecock Hills NY measured a 49 knot wind gust.

Surface low pressure passes to the northwest of the area as associated warm and cold fronts swing through. Just ahead of the cold front, a line of severe thunderstorms develop along a pre frontal trough and produce damaging wind gusts across the waters.
