A few trees downed by thunderstorm winds on Baileys Sawmill Road.

A persistent hot and moist air mass allowed for high levels of instability in southwest Virginia. A cold front moving southeast through the region interacted with this unstable air mass and formed numerous severe thunderstorms which produced damaging winds.
