Hot temperatures in the 90s and lower 100s, along with dew point temperatures in the 60s and lower 70s, produced heat indices of 100 to near 110 degrees during the afternoon of July 18th. Some activities were postponed or canceled due to the heat. Some of the highest heat indices include 109 degrees in Ridgeview, 108 degrees in Hayes and McLaughlin, and 107 degrees in Pierre.
