Moderate (D1) drought conditions, worsened to severe (D2) drought conditions across all of Keya Paha county by the end of August. The cooperative observer at Springview 2NW recorded 0.88 inches of rainfall for August.

Wider weather episode

Drought severity worsened across most of western and north central Nebraska in August. Severe (D2) drought conditions expanded to all of the central and eastern Sandhills by the end of the month. By the end of August, exceptional (D4) drought had developed over the large portion of southwestern Nebraska.
