Intermittent wind speeds of at least 40 mph were common in Daniels County from mid morning to mid afternoon. The peak wind gust of 57 mph was recorded at 10:32 AM at the Navajo MT-5 DOT site (MTRED).

Wider weather episode

A strong jet stream following a departing cold front moved into northeast Montana. Winds would mix down to the surface bringing strong winds with gusts above 50 and 60 mph.
