Event narrative

Strong northwest winds gusting to an estimated 40 mph caused sporadic power outages knocking out power to hundreds of customers in the Cornell area along the Escanaba River on the 18th.

Wider weather episode

A long-duration powerful fall storm impacted much of west and north central Upper Michigan from the 16th through the 18th with damaging winds, heavy wet snow, and some lakeshore erosion and flooding near Lake Superior. The storm and its impacts attracted national and regional media attention with the NWS Marquette staff giving numerous phone and video interviews leading up to and during the storm.
