Drought — Latimer, Oklahoma
2022-10-01 to 2022-10-31 · Latimer, Oklahoma
Wider weather episode
Several widespread, heavy rain events during October helped ease the drought across much of far eastern Oklahoma during the month. However, the remainder of eastern Oklahoma, especially areas north of I-40 and west of Highway 69, received below average precipitation for the month, much of that area only receiving between 25 and 50 percent of average rainfall amounts. As a result, exceptional drought (D4) conditions expanded across portions of northeastern Oklahoma to include all of Washington, Nowata, and Rogers Counties, as well as portions of Cherokee, Wagoner, Tulsa, Mayes, Ottawa, Craig, and Osage Counties. Exceptional drought (D4) conditions also continued across portions of Pittsburg, McIntosh, Okmulgee, and Okfuskee Counties. Severe (D2) to extreme (D3) drought conditions persisted across the remainder of eastern Oklahoma through the month, although as noted previously, some improvement did occur across far eastern Oklahoma. Monetary damage estimates as a result of the drought were not available.
