Event narrative

A period of moderate snow led to slick roads, leading to a commercial vehicle crashing on the eastbound lanes of the PA Turnpike at MM 143.6, blocking the eastbound left lane and closing the westbound lanes due to debris. There were no injuries reported, but there were significant traffic delays.

Wider weather episode

A weak area of low pressure pushed up the Ohio Valley during the afternoon and evening of November 15, 2022. This system pushed wet snow into central Pennsylvania, with light rain in the Lower Susquehanna Valley. A quick 3 to 5 inches of snow accumulated from the Laurel Highlands northeastward across the Ridge and Valley region. Although it was only an Advisory-level event, it was the first accumulating snowfall of the year and there were numerous traffic accidents and road closures.
