Event narrative

Generally 2 to 5 inches of snow fell across the area. Winds gusted up to 40 mph at times.

Wider weather episode

An anomalously cold upper level trough dropped south from the Northern Rockies into western Colorado. A strong cold front associated with the trough pushed across the area resulting in gusty winds to almost 60 mph in the mountains and greater than 40 mph in the valleys. Additionally, the front brought moderate to heavy snow to most mountain ranges in addition to some lower valleys across the northern and central areas.
