Event narrative

Lake effect snow showers, temperatures falling into the teens, and gusty winds to 40 mph developed behind an arctic cold front late on November 19th into the early morning hours of November 20th. Reduced visibilities and brief intense snowfall rates were observed with more intense lake effect bands, especially during the evening hours on November 19th. Blowing snow and snow covered roads occurred as a result with difficult travel and a few accidents reported across the region. Snow accumulations were estimated to be in the 1 to 3 inch range.

Wider weather episode

Bands of heavy lake effect snow affected southwest Michigan late afternoon on November 19th through the early morning hours of November 20th. Intense snowfall rates with near zero visibility created difficult travel conditions. Snowfall accumulations generally ranged between 2 and 7 inches.
