Event narrative

Generally 3 to 7 inches of snow fell across the area. Winds gusted up to 46 mph at times.

Wider weather episode

A quick moving but powerful cold front pushed across western Colorado and brought moderate snow to the mountains and some adjacent valleys. Additionally, gusty winds occurred with winds exceeding 45 mph in the mountains at times, resulting in reduced visibilities. Instability associated with the front led to stronger snow bands along portions of western Colorado. Wind gusts exceeded 50 mph with a snow squall that impacted portions of Rio Blanco and Routt counties as visibilities dropped to less than one quarter mile.
