Exceptional (D4) drought conditions persisted through the end of October over all of Hayes county. The cooperative observer at Hayes Center reported 0.33 inches of precipitation in October. This was 1.34 inches below the normal of 1.67 inches.
Wider weather episode
Abnormally dry and warm conditions continued across western and north central Nebraska in October. Drought conditions deteriorated across all of western and north central Nebraska. With the exception of moderate (D1) drought conditions in most of Sheridan County, all of western and north central Nebraska had drought conditions ranging from severe (D2) to exceptional (D4) drought by the end of October.
