The tornado then crossed the Soccer Fields at Lum Cumbest Park, where it leaned a freestanding metal light pole. As it progressed northward into the Park Ridge Estates community, it broke branches and snapped several trees. The tornado then continued to parallel Highway 613 northward into an open field and rural land where video confirmation indications the tornado gradually roped out as it approached Highway 614. The exact end point of this tornado was estimated based off video and high resolution satellite imagery.
Wider weather episode
A surface low pressure developed over central Louisiana in response to a negatively tilted mid-level trough over northeast Texas. A warm front developed in association with the surface low and surged northward through southern Mississippi in the early afternoon. This left coastal Mississippi in the warm sector of the cyclone where modest instability and sufficient wind shear was present to produce damaging winds and tornadoes.
