For multiple sites across the Little Rocky Mountains, temperatures in the teens and 20s below zero and breezy winds created intermittent periods of wind chills of -40 or worse from the late night of the 20th into the morning of the 23rd. The peak wind chill of -61 was recorded at 8:25 AM and 9:55 AM on the 21st at the FW7047 Landusky mesonet site (F7047).
