Ice accumulations across Perry County downed three trees near Lobelville. This event continued into early February.

Wider weather episode

A complex weather pattern set up across Middle Tennessee beginning on January 31, 2023 which continued into early February. Southerly flow was responsible for bringing moisture into the area while a cold front approaching from the north dropped temperatures below freezing. Vertical temperature profiles revealed that precipitation types would vary across Middle Tennessee. A pronounced area of above freezing temperatures around 750 mb combined with temperatures near or below freezing at the surface supported sleet and freezing rain precipitation types. Off-and-on wintry precipitation continued through February 2nd, and impacts from ice accumulations felt most across the northwest portion of Middle Tennessee. This event will be continued in February 2023.
