Event narrative
Nearly seven inches of storm total lake enhanced snow fell in Carbondale over a two-day period. Northwest winds gusting over 45 mph also caused considerable blowing and drifting of snow leading to occasional whiteout conditions.
Wider weather episode
A rapidly deepening storm system over the Upper Great Lakes produced a long-duration lake enhanced snow event across Upper Michigan from the 21st into the morning of the 26th. Blizzard conditions from lake enhanced snow and blowing snow were also reported across much of the area from the 23rd into the 24th.
