A persistent band of lake-effect snow off Lake Ontario amid a bitter cold air mass dropped southward just enough to bring heavy snowfall to far northern portions of Herkimer County on December 25-26, 2022. Snowfall totals of around 10 inches were reported with this band before it lifted back northward out of the county.
