A band of moderate to heavy snow moved into the county during the morning hours. Visibilities were reduced down to a half of a mile to a mile with sustained wind speeds of 20 to 25 mph and gusts of 30 to 35 mph.
Wider weather episode
Bands of moderate to heavy snow developed during the early morning hours across south central and southeast Kansas. Visibilities were significantly reduced down to a quarter of a mile to a mile with sustained wind speeds of 15 to 30 mph and gusts of 40 to near 50 mph. Multiple vehicular accidents were reported with a few possible or suspected injuries; only minor details are known. Artic air surged southward as part of this system as well with wind chills dropping to -24 to -38.
