Precipitation associated with an arctic cold front changed to snow across the high elevations of the North Carolina mountains during the late evening, with snow showers continuing within the upslope northwest flow in the wake of the front during the overnight and morning hours. Snowfall accumulated to the tune of 1-4 inches across the Tennessee border counties, mainly above 3500 feet. Locally higher amounts were reported on the high peaks and ridge tops along the state line.
