Low pressure approached during the night of the 12th...crossed the region through the 13th...exiting across the Maritimes that evening. Precipitation expanded across the region through the late afternoon and evening of the 12th with increasing intensity. The snow persisted into the 13th...ending through the afternoon into the evening. The low drew warmer air north across the region. Precipitation remained mostly in the form of snow across the Saint John Valley where the greatest snow accumulations occurred. Snow mixed with sleet and freezing rain across the remainder of northern Maine. Snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour occurred at times across northern areas. Snow transitioned to a wintry mix...then eventually rain...Downeast. Warning criteria snow accumulations occurred through the early morning hours of the 13th. Storm total snow accumulations ranged from 15 to 22 inches across the Saint John Valley. Across the remainder of northern Maine snow accumulations generally ranged from 10 to 15 inches along with up to an inch of sleet and one to two tenths of an inch of ice. Accumulations across the west-central Highlands to east-central areas generally ranged from 5 to 9 inches along with sleet and freezing rain. Snow accumulations tapered to around an inch along the Downeast coast where a transition to rain occurred.
