A pocket of D2/Severe Drought persisted across north-central South Dakota during January due to below-normal precipitation and above-average temperatures. The area, eastern Corson, all of Campbell, the northwest half of McPherson, the northeast corner of Walworth, and the northwest corner of Edmunds County, has been in D2/Severe Drought since early November.
