Volunteer snow observers reported around 6 inches of snow fell in parts of Chickasaw County. The highest reported total was 7.4 inches near Fredericksburg.

Wider weather episode

A strong winter storm slammed the Mid-Mississippi River Valley during the weekend of January 28th and 29th. Snowfall accumulations of 4 to 6 inches grazed select counties in northeast Iowa. Highest total snowfall accumulations were 7.5 inches near Fayette (Fayette County), 7.4 inches near Fredericksburg (Chickasaw County), and 7.1 inches near Elkader (Clayton County).
