Event narrative

A line of severe thunderstorms blew down numerous trees and power lines in a swath across Covington County including the City of Collins. One uprooted tree ruptured a gas line. Another tree was blown down across Mississippi Highway 590.

Wider weather episode

A few rounds of severe thunderstorms moved across portions of Mississippi from late in the evening of April 12th through the evening of April 13th. These storms produced wind damage and several tornadoes before a cold front brought an end to storms from west to east.
