The Tucumcari Airport observed a high sustained wind speed of 42 mph.

A strong section of the jetstream crossed NM producing strong southwest winds across much of southern, central, and eastern NM on March 22, 2023. High wind gusts regularly reached 60 to 70 mph with a few peak wind gusts reaching near 70 mph or more at the Sandia Crest and Magdalena Ridge. There were surprisingly no reports of wind damage collected, and no reports of reduced visibility from blowing dust.
