An EF1 tornado with maximum winds of 100 MPH and a maximum width of 250 yards entered Pike County from Amite County between Kermit and Church Roads. One was shifted off its foundation,
rotated backwards and rolled over at least once. Another lost its entire roof and a wall. The other homes had minor damage. Drone data were analyzed to fill in damage between here and I-55 where
extensive tree damage was noted along the highway. It moved east, damaging a camp on Highway 51 before lifting on Centerville Road.
Wider weather episode
A cold extending from Canada across the US to Mexico raced east across the country late on November 29th. As a warm front lifted north ahead of this boundary, a robust thunderstorm developed within the warm sector in southwest Mississippi and produced hail and damaging winds in Amite County. A second round of thunderstorms developed later as the actual cold front moved through and one storm was able to produce a tornado in the same county.
