Extreme (D3) drought conditions persisted over the northern half of Thomas County through the end of February. Across the southern half of the county, severe (D2) drought conditions persisted through the end of the month.

Wider weather episode

Drought conditions improved some in February across the area. The greatest improvements occurred over portions of north central and southwestern Nebraska. In these locations, drought severity improved by one category in February. Elsewhere, drought conditions remained un-changed during the month.
